Melba's brother, Jake

Paula, I'm so glad you all had a good time and patriece was well enough to come. I just wanted everyone to know that Mom's brother, Jake, died today around noon. He would have been 82 Wednesday. He has been fighting lung cancer. We are leaving with Mom and Dad tomorrow for Bryan, Tx. They plan to bury him here in Lubbock after they have services in Bryan. I know Mom will appreciate all your prayers for her family. You're right. God is good----all the time! Love, Karen
Karen and all,
Thanks for all the summer news! We had our grandson Dylan here in the Springs the first weekend of June. It was great. We did a lot of fun things like the zoo, a ballgame, bumper cars, etc. Then we had visitors from Indianapolis. We did the Airforce Academy, Garden of the Gods, and mexican food. Then, we had our family gathering in Door County, Wisconsin. Thankfully, Patriece was able to be there. About one week before, we weren't sure. She still has some issues, and we hope to hear something soon from X-rays or an MRI. Our reunion with just our husbands and immediate family was memorable and something we'll cherish for years to come!
Lots of wonderful devotional times, singing together, shopping, eating, etc.

Nona and Kevin plan to come here for a long July 4 weekend. It'll be fun to have them. We plan to go to Indy to see the grandkids again at the end of July. Then my folks plan to come here around mid-August.

Dave starts his PhD at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) in August. And, I start teaching in September for the same Bible College that employs Dave. I'll be teaching Basic English Skills--a remedial course---only as an adjunct one evening a week for 13 weeks. I'm real happy to be teaching again! Of course, we'll continue the ESL classes through the church in the Fall, too.

God is good---All the time!

Paula

Summer and Family

Kelley and I have been to see Korey and Amy in Keller. Their house is almost finished. Kayci came by on her way to see Josh's parents so we got to see her and Truitt for a few hours. We are home for a week, and then we are off in our 5th wheeler to see Richard and Janet on Monday. Wednesday we are all headed for Marshall Pass to camp for about a week. I think Bonita and Rod are going, too. July 11th Keith's family, Martha and the kids, will come to see us in Lubbock. Keith will be on Wilderness Trek by Salida with his youth group. July 19th, we'll meet Keith in Amarillo, and we plan to take them all camping in New Mexico sometime that week. They will leave the 24th, and then I am going to several workshops for school the next 2 weeks. During that time I will be getting my room ready for next year. Sometime the end of August we will be traveling to Memphis, Tn. to meet our newest grandson. Kayci is due August 26th-Mom's birthday. I have to get everything ready for the start of school because I may not be there. In the meantime, Kelley has been painting some for Korey at his new house. He also has several painting jobs around here to do when we are in town. Right now he is getting the 5th wheeler all ready for our big summer outing. We've been camping with Richard's group off and on since our kids were really small. It's our favorite camping trip! We are so glad Richard is feeling better this year and can make the trip. Today is Dad's 79th birthday. Next Monday is their 59th anniversary. Kelley and I will celebrate our 39th July 25th. Gail is getting ready for Joe's wedding August 15th in Amarillo, and Janet and family are in Hawaii for a family vacation. Hope you are all doing well. I would love to hear from any or all of you. Love, Karen
